セテルスパリブスってなに？　計量経済学　ceteris paribus

セテルスパリブスとは、

その他の設定がすべて変わらない場合に。"all other things being equal."

の意味。

Ceteris paribusまたはcaeteris paribusはラテン語のフレーズで、「他のものは同等」を意味します。このフレーズの英語訳には、「他のすべてのものが等しい」、「他のものが一定に保たれている」、または「他のすべてが変更されていない」が含まれます。

計量経済学ではよく出てきて、最初はなんの呪文だと思いました。しかしわかってしまえば使いやすい略語ということですね。
例えば、このように使います。

The main challenge in econometrics is to derive ceteris paribus statements that establish causal relationship, based on the economic data we have.

データの中での使い方：

If the educ year increases by 1 year, the expected wage increases by 10% ceteris paribus.

となる。

また、共変量βの意味をceteris paribusを使って説明すると、

the coefficient Bata^educ measures the effect of X(educ) on Y(lwage) ceteris paribus.

となる。
