The lines and pictures drawn with light are like fading graffiti projected onto the cave, as the act of drawing itself becomes a dance. When the three artists who were once there come back together again, they create cave drawings fit for the 21st century.
Wizard of OP is a performance project in which Takehito Koganezawa explores improvisational methods using light as a material for expression.
In this project, Koganezawa expands his performance repertoire by challenging forms of expression such as music, dance and poetry reading. Collaborators from the last two events include Suga Dairo, Kohei Sekikawa, ermhoi, Kent Watari /av4ln, FUJI|||||||||||TA, Shun Ishiwaka and Mora Mothaus.
The third edition of the event is based on the concept of ‘a live session with memory/recording.’
The artists are: Takehito Koganezawa, who treats light like a living organism; Hiraku Suzuki, who interprets light as a symbol of drawing; and Kazuhisa Uchihashi, who freely manipulates cosmic sounds from micro to macro.
Prior to the event, the three artists met to perform at the Fugaku Fuketsu (Wind Cave) in Yamanashi - 200m underground, where no light can reach. This performance is also a documentary film which shows the act of drawing a contemporary cave mural.
The recorded visuals depicting this memory will be interspersed with a new performance by the three artists in a room that can be described as a modern-day cave, in ANB Tokyo. They introduce the focus of a new challenge: ‘a live session with memory/recording.’
