Similarities in the Impact of the Yom Kippur War and the Russia-Ukraine Conflict on the Markets
The Yom Kippur War, also known as the October War or the Ramadan War, took place from October 6th to October 25th, 1973. It was a conflict initiated by Egypt and Syria with the aim of regaining territories lost in the 1967 war. Both countries launched a surprise attack against Israel, catching them off guard. The attack occurred on the eve of Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement), leaving Israel with little time to prepare its defense. The war garnered international attention and led to the involvement of major powers and negotiations for a ceasefire. Despite the intense fighting and significant casualties, a ceasefire was declared a few weeks later. After the ceasefire, mediation efforts were focused on border lines and territorial issues.
