what、which、who、whoseって練習してきたけど、
このページではそれ以外のwhere when why how！
【5W1H】ってのから教えるよ！

ただその前に、
基本はwhatで教えてるからね！絶対whatからやってこよう。
急がば回れだよー。

【5W1H】

5W1H（ごダブリューいちエイチ）。
聞いたことあるかな？

例えばニュースで「火事がありました」しか書いてなかったら、
え？それだけ？って思うよね。

そういうときに必要な情報をまとめたのが5W1Hです。
今覚えちゃおうね。

まず日本語で。

・いつ
・どこで
・誰が
・何を
・なぜ
・どうやって

これです。
「火事がありました」だけより、情報が正確だ。
覚えてね。

それを英語にしてみます。

・When （ウェン）・・・いつ
・Where（ウェアー）・・どこで
・Who    （フー）・・・・誰が
・What   （ワット）・・・何を
・Why     （ワイ）・・・・なぜ
・How     （ハウ）・・・・どうやって

これが5つのWと1つのHだから「5W1H」だ。
疑問詞を覚えるのにも使えるから、今覚えちゃおうね。

【 where 】

ということでwhereから。
where（ウェアー）は「どこ」。場所を聞きます。

　You were here.
　君はここにいた（be ある・いる）（here ヒアー ここ）

（この文覚えてなかったら先にここね）

You were here.はbe動詞の文だから、
それを疑問文にすると（主語とbeを逆にすればいいから）

　You were here.
　君はここにいた

→Were you here?
　君はここにいた？

「君はどこにいたの？」って聞きたかったら、
「here」を消して、文頭にwhereを持ってきます。

　Were you here?
　君はここにいた？

→Where were you?
　君はどこにいた？

これが基本です。

　He was on the street.
　彼はその通りに（on the street）いた

→Was he on the street?
　彼はその通りにいた？

→Where was he?
　彼はどこにいた？

この「on the street」みたいに、
場所は「前置詞のカタマリ」で表現することも多いです。

　She lives in Saitama.
　彼女は埼玉に（in Saitama）住んでいる

→Does she live in Saitama?
　彼女は埼玉に住んでいるの？

→Where does she live?
　彼女はどこに住んでいるの？
　（答え方：She lives in Saitama.もしくはIn Saitama.）

　They went to Okinawa.
　彼らは沖縄に（to Okinawa）行った

→Did they go to Okinawa?
　彼らは沖縄に行ったの？

→Where did they go?
　彼らはどこへ行ったの？
　（答え方：They went to Okinawa.かTo Okinawa.）

【 when 】

When（ウェン）は「いつ」。
時間を表す疑問詞です。

基本的なつくりかたは同じだ

　You went to Japan last week.
　君は先週（last week）日本に行った

→Did you go to Japan last week?
　君は先週日本に行ったんですか？

→When did you go to Japan?
　君はいつ日本に行ったんですか

いつなの？って聞きたいんだから、
last weekを消して、whenにするだけ。
さっきのwhereと作り方似てるな、と思えたらOK。

（ちなみに場所「to Japan」でも疑問文は作れるよね）

　You went to Japan last week.
　君は先週日本に行った
→Where did you go last week?
　君は先週どこへ来たんですか

他には。

　You saw me yesterday.
　君は昨日私を見た

→Did you see me yesterday?
　君は昨日私を見たの？

→When did you see me?
　君はいつ私を見たの？
　（答え方：I saw you yesterday.もしくはYesterday.）

時間も場所と同じで、
前置詞のカタマリの表現が多いです。

　The game will begin at four.
　その試合は４時に（at four）始まるでしょう

→Will the game begin at four?
　その試合は４時に始まるの？

→When will the game begin?
　その試合はいつ始まるの？
　（答え方：It will begin at four.かAt four.）

　The concert started at eleven.
　そのコンサートは11時に始まりました

→Did the concert start at eleven?
　そのコンサートは11時に始まりましたか？

→When did the concert start?
　そのコンサートはいつ始まりましたか？

という感じかな。
ただ、Whenには「とき」っていう用法もあったよね。

　When I was young, I could speak English.
　私が小さいとき、私は英語を話すことができた
（could クッド canの過去形）

こっちは文が2つあるように見えるよね。
だから見分け方はそんなに難しくないはず。
不安ならこのページで練習しようね。

【場所と時間はだいたい副詞】

「名詞、形容詞、副詞って何だ」のページで、
場所と時間はだいたい副詞ってことをやってたね。
この感じが分かると、where、whenも強くなるはずです。

あと前置詞！
inとかatとかも強くしとこうね。

【 why 】

why（ワイ）。
「なぜ？」っていう、理由を聞く疑問詞です。
whyはとりあえず、
「because」と対応してると思ってていいからね。
（because ビコーズ「だから」）

　Because you are kind, she likes you.
　君がやさしいから、彼女は君が好きだ（kind カインド やさしい）
　She likes you because you are kind.
　君がやさしいから、彼女は君が好きだ

文頭に来る場合も文末に来る場合も意味は一緒だったね。
下の方の文で疑問文を作ってみようか。

　She likes you because you are kind.
　君がやさしいから、彼女は君が好きだ

→Does she like you because you are kind?
　君がやさしいから、彼女は君を好きなの？

「なんで彼女は君が好きなの？」って聞きたいわけだから、
becauseを消して、whyを文頭に持ってくればいいだけ。
（カタマリが長いけど、結局whereやwhenと同じだと思えたらすばらしい）

　Does she like you because you are kind?
　君がやさしいから、彼女は君を好きなの？

→Why does she like you?
　なんで彼女は君が好きなの？

こんな感じです。

　He studies history because it is interesting.
　歴史が面白い（interesting）から、彼は歴史を勉強する

→Does he study history because it is interesting?
　歴史が面白いから、彼は歴史を勉強するの？

→Why does he study history?
　なんで彼は歴史を勉強するの？

　Her mother became a teacher because she loved children.
　子供が大好きだったから、彼女の母は先生になった

→Did her mother become a teacher because she loved children?
　子供が大好きだったから、彼女の母は先生になったの？

→Why did her mother become a teacher?
　なんで彼女の母は先生になったの？

【 how 】

最後！
how（ハウ）は「どう」って意味です。
苦手な人が多いはず。

こういう文があるとします。

　You come to school by train.
　君は電車で（by train）学校に来る

byを使って移動手段を表すことができます。
by train, by bus, by taxi, by car, by plane（飛行機）全部ね。

上の文を疑問文にすると、

　You come to school by train.
　君は電車で（by train）学校に来る

→Do you come to school by train?
　君は電車で学校に来るの？

「どうやって来るの？」って聞きたいわけだから、
by trainを消して、howを文頭に持ってくればいいだけ。

　Do you come to school by train?
　君は電車で学校に来るの？

→How do you come to school?
　君はどうやって学校に来るの？
（答え方：by trainとかby busとか）

by train, by bus, by taxi。
徒歩だけは「on foot（オンフット）」です。

　Nao goes to school on foot.
→Does Nao go to school on foot?
→How does Nao go to school?

もう細かい説明書かなくても、
分かってきたんじゃないかな？

また、こんな使い方もあります。

　This bread is good.
　このパン（bread ブレッド）はおいしい

→Is this bread good?
　このパンおいしい？

→How is this bread?
　このパンはどうですか？

パンが「どう」なのかを聞くんだから、
good（おいしい）を消して、howを文頭に持ってくればいいね。
似た感じで、

　How is this bread?
　このパンはどうですか？

　How is the weather?
　天気はどうですか？

　How is the game?
　試合（の得点）はどうですか？

も理解できるはずです。

　You are fine.
　君は元気（fine ファイン）です

→Are you fine?
　君は元気？

→How are you?
　元気ですか？（体調はどうですか）

これが「How are you?」の正体だ。
調子が「どう」なのかを聞いてたんだね。

you以外にも、

　How is your mother?
　君のお母さんは元気ですか？

　How is everyone?
　みんな元気？（everyone みんな）

前のページでもやったけど、
疑問詞（howとか）は指で隠しても疑問文のカタチだったよね。
ちゃんとare youとかis your motherってなってます。

またhowは、カタマリを作ることも多いです。

　彼は何歳ですか


ちゃんとhow oldを指で隠したら、
疑問文のカタチ（are youやis he）になってるね。

　How long is it?
　それはどのくらいの長さですか

　How long can you stay?
　どのくらい（の長さ）君は滞在できるの？

　How far?
　どのぐらい遠く？（far ファー：遠く）

　How far did you go?
　どのくらい遠く（どこまで）君は行ったの？

　How many sisters do you have?
　どのくらいの姉妹がいますか？

　How many people are there?
　どのくらいの人たちがいるんですか

　How many pages did you read?
　どのくらいのページを読んだの？

　How much?
　いくらですか（お金）

　How much is this bag?
　このカバンはいくら？

　How much money do you have?
　君はいくら持ってる？

こんな感じ！
一個一個覚えるというより、
例文を何度も練習しちゃおうね。
慣れたほうが早い！

このパターンは、
何度もやったからピンと来るようになったんじゃないかな？
1回だけだったら難しいけど、
何回もやれば大丈夫だよね。それは成長だ！

答え方も大事だけど、
まずは疑問詞に慣れるところから！
下の英文を、全部スラスラ訳せるように練習してみようね。
