Exploring Newtown
26/9/2020 Sat.
【Day 189】
My wife, Natsumo, and I went to Newtown for an exploring walk for the first time, meanwhile, Minori and Mihaya stayed at home. I think Newtown is a place more for adults, so it’s a sort of good decision we made.
The town has an atmosphere of art. There are lots of graffiti on the walls everywhere and it’s a more miscellaneous place than I thought.
We stopped by a Japanese bakery “Azuki”, where a lot of people made a long line. The bread and cakes there looked very delicious. We bought some Japanese-style bread such as yakisoba-bread and curry-bread, and some cakes.
After that, I wanted to go to Young Henrys' brewpub, but unfortunately, they were closed. My wife told me that she had tried to enter the venue alone before, but she couldn’t because she was scared of the atmosphere there. I know how she felt. When I hear the name of Young Henrys, I imagine such as tattoos, rock, Harley Davidson, leather jackets, etc. That’s their brand image.
Then we stopped by a ramen shop “Shinmachi” for lunch.
They seemed to have a hard time due to COVID, but their ramen was awesome. Because we have eaten ramen only once a month or so since we came to Australia, it tasted so great. And they had Young Henrys' beer on their tap, so I could have a glass of fresh pale ale.
Newtown was so interesting that I want to go there again. I wish Natsumo was at the age she could drink beer with me. It would be a pretty much fun time because there are a lot of breweries around there.
