Last month a unique interaction between Japan and Germany took place. People, who are interested in traditional Japanese architecture, artist and architects came together to join an online event.
Due to the Coronavirus German architects and artisan were not able to come to Japan to experience the traditional Japanese architecture by hand, but this virus didn’t stop the interaction.
During the online session, Japanese craftsman showed the process of renovating an old Japanese Shinto shrine and explained in the various asked question how important it is, to keep the tradition in the modern world.
They showed the unique and fascinating details of the Shinto shrine in the south of Kyoto, which was a really interesting experience.
After the introduction of the restoration of the Shinto shrine, the architects and artisan from Germany were able to ask the craftsman questions about the Japanese way to restore an old Shinto shrine.
Learning about the different types of materials, woods and designs and the meaning behind of it, was really interesting.

先月、日本とドイツのユニークな交流が行われました。日本の伝統的な建築に興味のある方人、アーティストや建築家が集まり、オンラインイベントに参加しました。
コロナウイルスの影響で、ドイツの建築家や職人が日本に来て日本の伝統的な建築を実際に体験することができなくなってしまいましたが、交流は途絶えませんでした。
オンラインセッションでは、日本の職人さんが日本の古い神社を改修していく過程を紹介し、様々な質問に答えながら、現代社会で伝統を守ることの大切さを説明してくれました。
京都の南にあるお寺ならではの魅力的なディテールが紹介され、とても興味深かったです。
神社の修復のご紹介の後、ドイツの建築家と職人さんが、日本の古いお寺の修復方法について質問していました。
素材の種類や木材、デザインの違い、その背景にある意味などを学ぶことができて、とても面白かったです。
とても勉強になりました!
