Wanna be a Mark Twain
Needless to say, Mark Twain is a famous American writer. I guess that many people all over the world have read his famous story "The Adventure of Tom Sawyer" when they were children. So did I. But due to the story "The Adventure of Tom Sawyer", it seems that he is a children's writer. Of course, it's not right. He wrote many kinds of stories in his life. For example, he wrote a story like SF (Science Fiction) titled "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court". It's the time trip story.
By the way, he remained the following famous words. "The works by great writers "Wine", but mine is "Water". ". I guess that Mark Twain was also regarded as a children's writer in those days. So he said those words as his answer. He didn't humiliate himself. He implied that water is more valuable than higher liquor. The rich like higher liquor but humans can't live without water. Nobody doesn't drink water. I think that he was proud of himself.
I'm now working on media art. I often think about Mark Twain's words. I want to be a Mark Twain. I don't want to make "higher liquor" for noble people. I want to make "water" for ordinary people. In other words, I don't want to create work that a part of knowledgeable people can understand only. I want to create work that everyone from children to adults who don't have any special knowledge can enjoy. I don't want to criticize researchers and/or creators who work for such knowledgeable people. I think that it's OK to have people like that. But my goal is not to be such a person. I want to be a Mark Twain who provided "water" to everyone.
