Food Projection Mapping

I have been proposing "Food Projection Mapping" before. Actually, I used to do "Food Projection Mapping" in our laboratory every year before COVID-19. It was a kind of traditional custom in our laboratory when students joined our laboratory. We often did "Takoyaki Projection Mapping". I made all the new students make the contents of projection mapping. One student made content that maps images of planets onto the holes of the Takoyaki plate. One student made content that maps the character images of "Pokemon".  One student made content that maps ball images like a soccer ball, basketball ball, volleyball ball, and so on. You can see some of them on my YouTube channel.

I have also developed a projection mapping system that displays text messages. It displays a character one by one. It expresses one character like dot matrics as follows.

Character expressions based on Projection Mapping

The problem with this method is the number of holes. In general, most consumer products of Takoyaki makers are small and the number of holes is a few. The average is from 18 to 24 holes. It's not enough to express a character clearly. Of course, we can get large Takoyaki makers for professional usage. But its costs are so high and almost all such Takoyaki makers are based on gas. It's more troublesome than the number of holes. But I found an ideal Takoyaki maker as follows.

I was so surprised to see this Takoyaki maker. The number of holes is 56, and the method is based on not gas but electricity. The best point is the cost. It costs just 25,800JPY. It's so unbelievable. I will buy it next year and I want to improve my system for Takoyaki Projection Mapping.
