Year-End Party and IT

Tonight, there was a Year-End party in our department. A long time ago, the Year-End party was one of the seasonal traditions in Japan. Lately, however, many organizations don't have a year-end party at the end of the year. Especially, after COVID-19, the Year-End Party became an endangered species in Japan. I like this tradition, so I am so sad about this situation.
Anyway, we had a Year-End Party tonight for a while and we enjoyed a good party time. I wonder why young people in Japan don't like the Year-End Parties. Some people say that young people don't want to spend their time with colleagues at their organization. But they look willing to take part in the Year-End Party with their friends. In my opinion, my colleagues are kind of my friends, though.
By the way, IT has a strong influence on the Year-End Party. Have you ever done the Yea-End Party as a coordinator? If you had such an experience, you probably agree with me. IT reduces the work by a coordinator of the Year-End Party. For example, the work required by the coordinator is as follows.

  • scheduling of the date when many people can attend

  • the choice of the restaurant and its appointment

  • gathering the fee from participants

All of them are troublesome. But now it's a past thing. All of them can be cleared by IT. First of all, there are many scheduling services on the Internet now. All we have to do is input our available days. Second, we can easily search for a good restaurant on the Internet too. Finally, we can easily gather the participation fee using cashless applications. A long time ago, the coordinator had to prepare many cash backs for participants beforehand. Moreover, there are so many party games on the Internet. The burden of the coordinator has been reduced so much. IT changes our lifestyles definitely.
