#206 【English】Morning Talk Luck?
Good morning everyone, it’s Tuesday, December 8th and it’s time for Amber’s Morning English Talk.
It’s currently 7 degrees in Tokyo with clear skies. The temperature should rise to about 16 degrees in the afternoon, and it will likely be cloudy around 3 pm and onward.
On Sunday Hiro-san had some errands to do and so I spent some of my time at a quiet temple taking photos. Overall it was a very relaxing time. This temple in particular isn’t entirely well known except as a cemetery, but it also is home to a lovely bamboo and maple grove that visitors are able to walk through.
On the grounds of the temple, right before the entrance to the cemetery, there is also a huge and magnificent ginkgo tree with with impressive height and numerous branches.
But with this amount of trees, and peaceful atmosphere, there were also a large number of birds hidden in the leaves and branches. At first, I enjoyed the chirping music and sound of fluttering through branches. It only added to the peaceful atmosphere. At least until I felt something fall on my shoulder. And a fifteen minutes later when I was surprised by a sudden splatter on my glasses.
Apparently I should buy a lottery ticket. At least, that’s what my coworker told me. But after looking online, apparently Japan isn’t the only culture to believe that when a bird drops a present on you, it’s a sign of good luck.
Today I went to end my morning talk with a question to anyone listening now: Do you believe in signs of good luck? Should I buy a lottery ticket?
