Greeting of high school baseball
High school baseball team members are doing ground maintenance for preparation before practice. At that time the director, coach came into the ground. Then the captain will instruct everyone “Be careful”. Then everyone in the group takes off hat and takes care. When the captain calls “Hello”, the member also says “Hello” after that. Players will do this not only for director, coach, but also for superior people and customers. Also, there is some place to do this for seniors even among members.
What do you think about this situation? Do you think it is courteous and wonderful?
It may be better if every member of the team does it with thoughtful heart, does it from the bottom of heart. But I think that it is not the case in fact. It seems that the form that the captain calls and members greet each other is slightly different from the meaning of the original greeting. Does the side who receives such a greeting for the first time feel comfortable? It could be confused. Especially for foreigners. Depending on the members, they are greeting from a distant position, and I feel kind rude.
Anyway, I think that it is good to do the real greetings, let each member meet in the vicinity and meet eyes to eyes and heart to heart, and greeting from heart. It is best to greet voluntarily. Rather, if you do not want to greet, you do not have to do it. In society, there are also people who do not want to greet people.
In college, society baseball, professional baseball and general society, people do not do such a way of greeting I wrote in the beginning. It is wonderful.
