田中正造伝記37(日本語と英語)

それにしても田中正造は
どうしてここまで足尾銅山の
鉱毒問題にこだわったのでしょうか？
実は鉱毒を出していた鉱山は他にも
存在していました。
住友の礎を築いた四国の別子銅山も
その一つでした。
銅の採掘と精錬の過程で、
亜硫酸ガスで山の木を枯れさせ、
農作物に多大な被害をもたらし、
農民たちによる暴動も起きていました。
しかしながら、田中正造はこの事について帝国議会で取り上げていません。
それどころか、別子銅山の経営について高く評価してます。
何故なんでしょうか?

Still,why was Shozo Tanaka so obesessed with the Ashio Copper Mine's poisoning problem?
In fact,there were other mines that were producing mineral poison.
The Besshi Copper Mine in Shikoku,which laid the foundation for Sumitomo,was one such example.
During the copper mining and smelting process,sulfurous acid gas killed mountain trees and caused extensive damage to crops,leading to riots by the peasants.
However, Shozo Tanaka did not address this matter in the Imperial Diet.

On the contrary, he spoke highly of the management of the Besshi Copper Mine.

Why was that?
