田中正造伝記47(日本語と英語)

石川半山は言いました。
「ただし、これは文字通り命を捨てる覚悟が必要ですよ。田中先生、その覚悟はおありですか？」
田中正造は間髪入れず答えました。
「もとよりこの命は被害民のために使い切るためにあります。」
石川は続けました。
「それに、天皇陛下に直訴となると
貴方の家族にも咎めがあるかもしれないですよ。」
「私の両親は既に他界しました。
家内には、これまでたくさん迷惑をかけてきました。なので、この際離縁状を送ります。」
すると、石川は言いました。
「田中先生のご決心確かに承りました。ならば、私はジャーナリストの端くれとして、足尾で起こっている事を、新聞記事で世の中に知らせますよ。」

こうして、「天皇陛下への直訴」計画が動き始めました。

Ishikawa Hanzan said.
"However,you have to be prepared to literally lay down your life for this.Are you prepared to do so, Mr.Tanaka?”                        

Shozo Tanaka replied without pause.
”Originally,my life is to be used up for the benefit of the victim people.”

Ishikawa went on to say.                                    "Besides,if you appeal directly to the Emperor,your family might be blamed."  
Shozo said,
”My parents have already passed away.
I have given my wife a lot of trouble.
Therefore,I am sending a letter of separation to her at this time.”

Then Ishikawa said,
”Mr.Tanaka, I have accepted your decision.
Then, as a journalist, I will inform the society about what is happening in Asio through newspaper articles.”

Thus, the plan to appeal directly to the Emperor was set in motion.
