Protest 5/30
In these days, there are many protests in the United States.
In downtown Los Angeles, where I’m living in, many people go out the street, break things, loot in stores, like an apple store last night. Supermarkets and CVSs front glasses were broken and painted by spray. Some patrol car was broken and burned on the road. Many patrol cars and helicopter went around the city until this morning. In Saturday morning, many volunteers got together to sweep up broken glass and swab down walls. I took a walk daytime and I found roads were not so dirty as I thought. However, we can’t go out tonight because riot may happen.
This protest is caused by a case. Floyd, who was black man was killed Monday after being arrested for allegedly attempting to use a counterfeit $20 bill. An ex-Minneapolis police officer, who is white, keeping on Floyd’s neck fir nearly 9 minutes. He was suffering and said that he couldn’t breathe. Some people take videos and posted it on the twitter. The tweet went viral quickly. This video made people angry.
I tried looking for the video and watched, but I couldn’t watch it. It was sad news.
In Japan, we(Japanese) don’t often face discrimination. Many citizens are Japanese. Therefore, we don’t think about discrimination frequently.
However, I think there are many discrimination in the U.S. Not only black but also Asian people are sometimes discriminated in the country. I’ve heard of the store which only white people can enter.
Humankind is getting equal rather than before but it is not enough.
I hope that there are no discrimination.
