Diary 1/26 うまい棒値上げしたってよ

The maker of Japanese wonderful snack named Umaibo is raising prices for the first time. It was 10-yen but the maker raise the price by 2-yen due to higher cost.  Commodity price is increasing all over the world. While western company raise the consumer price, Japanese companies have been reluctant to increase the prices. So Japanese consumer price didn’t rise very much. I think it is iconic event.

By the way, Japan Health Officials are reporting a record number of COVID-19 cases for the second day in a row. New cases in Japan topped 70,000 for the first time. Nearly 43% of hospital beds set aside for COVID-19 patients in Tokyo are occupied. The Tokyo government has set a threshold of 50% before it would request a full state of emergency. It is very close…
