[short story]The Cat, the Rat and the Hat
[short story] The Cat,the Rat, and the Hat.
The cat was talking to CatGPT, a generative AI designed for cats.
Cat: “Hey, where can I catch a Rat?”
CatGPT: “The best spot is here.”
Cat: “Where is this?”
CatGPT: “It’s the gutter by the parking lot across the street.”
Cat: “Got it, thanks.”
Meanwhile, the rat was also talking to RatGPT, a generative AI designed for rats.
Rat: “I’m scared of getting caught by the cat. Where should I run?”
RatGPT: “CatGPT will likely predict that you’ll pass through this spot. The cat will take it at face value, so it’s wise to avoid this place.”
Rat: “Got it, thanks RatGPT.”
The cat waited all day at the spot CatGPT suggested, but the rat never showed up. Tired of waiting, the cat asked CatGPT again.
Cat: “I can’t find it.”
CatGPT: “It’s probably RatGPT’s advice. It must have told the Rat to avoid this place.”
Cat: “Then where is it?”
CatGPT: “Hmm, it’s probably running away. If you walk around randomly, you might find it.”
Cat: “Not very reliable.”
Still, the cat walked around various places as CatGPT suggested. And there it was, the rat.
Cat: “Gotcha!”
The cat chased the rat. The rat, of course, ran away. It was a chase just like Tom and Jerry. Just as the cat caught up with the rat, a big hat fell, capturing both of them.
Hat: “Oh, HatGPT is indeed smart. Thanks to it, I was able to catch both the rat and the cat at once.”
And then the hat munched on the rat and the cat.
