Weekly Prescription
Monday – The Silent Art of Giving
True kindness lies in an intuitive understanding of what others need. Those who have walked many paths tend to see from diverse perspectives, deepening their empathy. Having endured hardships themselves, they often develop a profound ability to support others, sensing their pain with remarkable clarity.
With this, they expand their perspective flexibly, drawing the right wisdom from their experiences and guiding relationships around them positively. Real kindness doesn’t fear “stepping back,” “giving way,” or even “yielding.” Helping or pleasing others often satisfies our self-worth, but true kindness—genuine generosity—transcends these self-centered motivations.
Tuesday – Crafting Bonds that Last
To nurture meaningful relationships, trust and empathy are fundamental. My diverse encounters at university taught me that experiences, shaped by one’s environment, often transcend differences in nationality, age, or gender, deeply influencing how we connect. Shared experiences, especially those marked by overcoming hardship, forge a natural bond, deepening mutual understanding and trust.
The strength of a relationship can be measured by the respect and empathy one has for the other. Even without constant contact, relationships based on genuine care flourish, adding richness and purpose to life. Investing in meaningful connections elevates life, steering our personal journey toward fulfillment. We hold the wheel of our lives, deciding who joins our journey and which roads we take. It’s all part of our own grand selection process.
Wednesday – Growing Through Missteps
Some people, when in conflict, react as though the world has turned against them, assuming the role of the victim and blaming the other party entirely. In this stance, they dismiss others’ opinions, fixating solely on their own emotions. While it’s natural to value our own feelings—it’s part of self-respect, one should pause and ask: Have I reflected on my role in this? Could I have contributed to the issue, too?
In any relationship, whether with friends, family, or partners, choosing to open the door to connection implies a willingness to prioritize the other’s feelings. Without this consideration, a relationship cannot deepen. When we step forward, responsibility and empathy step forward with us.
If “prioritizing the other” still feels uncertain, it might simply reveal an area of “immaturity” within one’s life experience. Mature relationships develop as we learn to balance our own and the other’s feelings, ultimately creating the strong bonds we seek.
Thursday – The Final Destination of Love?
“To love even when hurt” — a wistful, fleeting emotion many may have known. Is that love or just infatuation? The line between the two is thin, often blurred, sometimes colliding. When confronted with a breakup, searching for “the definition of love” can be as unsettling as it is elusive.
Sometimes we don’t even want to find the answer, unsettled by our own reluctance. Varied forms of love, “restricted,” “distorted,” and “free”, make defining it all the more difficult. Love often begins with shared values and preferences, though sometimes ideals weigh relationships down, pushing them toward a premature end.
When the journey reaches its station too soon, is that where love stops? Love can endure pain and grow amidst difficulties. But how it’s nurtured, how it’s embraced., this journey belongs to the two who walk it together.
Friday – Humility in High Places
The less people have achieved, the quicker they are to judge others, often imposing rigid “oughts” on them. Assertiveness and self-confidence aren’t inherently wrong, but balance is key. Regardless of one’s position, it’s wise to stay grounded, always remembering the humble beginnings of one’s journey. Each person has their own story. Especially if uninvited, even the wisest advice can come off as arrogance. That’s why humility, no matter the circumstances, is a virtue to keep close.
Each life unfolds with its own rhythm and story, and even well-intentioned guidance, if unsolicited, can ring hollow, or even sound like arrogance. Wisdom isn’t just about knowledge; it’s about timing, gentleness, and knowing when to hold back. Perhaps that’s why humility is a constant companion of true wisdom, a quiet virtue that anchors us even as we reach for greater heights.
Saturday – The Allure of Self-Deception
Why do people hide their wrongdoings? Perhaps it's because, deep down, they already sense the shadow of guilt lurking within. Admitting to themselves what they’ve done is daunting, so they seek out validation, hoping to find someone who will offer a comforting narrative, a reason to believe they aren’t in the wrong. Unable to shoulder the weight of their guilt alone, they turn to trusted friends or family, appealing to emotion, tears and words that frame their view as the only truth.
Gradually, they gather sympathizers, shaping a story that casts themselves as misunderstood, well-intentioned, while quietly nudging the other into the role of the villain. In this carefully constructed tale, they manage not only to draw others to their side but, eventually, to convince even themselves that they are the “victim.”
In time, this becomes more than just a story., it transforms into a dangerous recipe of self-deception, where the lines blur between reality and the version they’ve crafted, fooling themselves as much as those around them. It’s a cycle that perpetuates denial and distances them ever further from genuine self-reflection.
Sunday – Walking Through the Fog
When emotions repeatedly clash, searching for their cause can feel overwhelming. When one feels misunderstood, it’s easy to spiral into helplessness, a negative loop that only digs deeper. In this loop, both parties hurt each other without any way out. The thought creeps in: Maybe it’s my fault. Even trying to explain seems pointless. And the other side, instead of recognizing their own hurtful actions, says, “I was hurt too.” It’s a deadlock of frustration.
Sometimes, blaming oneself is simply the easier way to avoid untangling a complex situation. But that doesn’t make it the truth. Although it can be challenging to trace old misunderstandings or find the reason behind wounds, one option remains: to move forward without a clear answer.
Just as a math solution can be correct even with a flawed process, so too in life, one can advance without perfect clarity. Even if emotions don’t immediately offer solutions, moving ahead may still bring new perspectives and resolutions into view.
