A diabetic menu includes regular meals as well as healthy snacks. Diabetics may find that they do more planning than non-diabetics, but the food choices are relatively similar. Diabetics may find that carrying a few, wisely selected snacks may keep them from stopping at a convenience store for a bag of chips. Pack a baggie of vegetables or a piece of fruit for when hunger strikes, so that the temptation to stop for that donut is eliminated. Show your coworkers how to share food in a healthy way when it is your turn to bring in the treat. Bring a veggie tray with several different vegetables and a selection of low-fat dips to share instead of a box of donuts. Bake banana or zucchini bread with fruit juice instead of sugar or with a sugar substitute instead of bringing in a store-bought coffee cake to share. Make a fruit salad or a sugar free jello mold with fruit and dress it up with low fat, sugar free whipped topping.
