Klopp: After the match against Arsenal, I told him that I wasn’t happy with what he did
Beaten this weekend in the championship (3-1), Arsenal took its revenge on Liverpool in the Capitol One Cup. Indeed, yesterday, the Gunners beat the Reds on penalties, after a goalless draw during the regulation 90 minutes.
At the end of the match, Jurgen Klopp said that if his team lost, it was partly due to a lack of efficiency. He also praised the great performance of Arsenal goalkeeper Berd Leno, who put in a great performance. At a press conference, the Liverpool coach revealed that he even went to see the German Arsenal goalkeeper to tell him that he was not happy with his great match which eliminated his team.
“I told him after the match that I wasn’t very happy with his performance. Yes, we could have been a bit more clinical in finishing the action, but Leno played a very good match. We had some very good moments. As a manager I want us to score goals.
We showed quality, it just didn’t work tonight and that’s fine. We will try again, I promise. At the end of the day penalties are luck and lots of things, but Arsenal shot very well and we are not exactly the same and that is why we lost,” said the former Borussia Dortmund boss.
